Carl Wilson was sworn in this week to fill the 3rd Council District seat vacated by Erik Bottcher, covering most of Manhattan west of 6th Avenue between Spring and West 55th Streets. We congratulate Carl on his election and look forward to working with him in the City Council.

In addition to congratulating him and welcoming him to his new position, we’ve written to our new Councilmember about some important current issues in the 3rd Council District we asked him about while running for office, and have urged him to move ahead with promised actions on each. These include securing the repair and reopening of the Tony Dapolito Recreation Center, making changes to the design of 388 Hudson Street, rethinking plans for the proposed 600 ft tall tower on city-owned land at Little West 12th and West Streets, and supporting landmark designation of the endangered historic Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 229 West 14th Street, the city’s first Spanish-language church. Read the letter HERE

We look forward to his response and working with Councilmember Wilson on these and other vital issues in the 3rd Council District.
