The upcoming Labor Day holiday is a great reminder of the incredibly rich labor history connected to our neighborhoods, which played an outsized role in shaping the role and rights of workers in our country. Many of America’s most impactful labor leaders, organizations, and events were rooted in our neighborhoods. The sites of early demonstrations, the formation of powerful unions, and even tragedies that forever changed labor practices like the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire are all found here, and tell stories that continue to resonate and inform today.
