Revised Plan for 375 Lafayette Street Heads to Landmarks Preservation Commission Tuesday

Revised designs for a 220-ft.-tall development on what is currently a parking lot at 375 Lafayette Street (at Great Jones Street) in the NoHo Historic District Extension have been submitted, and will be heard by the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) on Tuesday.  

Village Preservation strongly objected to the original proposed design, which was heard earlier this year, including its overwhelming scale, monotonous detailing, and disturbingly blank and largely untreated but highly visible north and east façades. While the last issue has been substantively addressed by the revised design, the other two are not, and are arguably perhaps even worse than the original proposal. 

The oversized scale of the proposed new building is made possible by the 2021 SoHo/NoHo Rezoning, which we vehemently opposed. Because this is a revised application rather than a new one, the public can submit written comments in advance for consideration about the design, but will not be given an opportunity to testify at the Tuesday LPC hearing.
