Scores Rally for the East Village’s Most Holy Redeemer Church

We were proud to be joined by parishioners, Councilmember Harvey Epstein, fellow community organizations, and scores of neighbors and supporters for a rally on Monday calling on the New York Archdiocese to reopen Most Holy Redeemer Church at 173 East 3rd Street, and calling on the Mayor and the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission to save it through landmark designation. It was inspiring to see the outpouring of emotion and support, and we thank everyone who attended and especially all who helped organize the event — see photos HERE and watch video of Village Preservation’s Juan Rivero speaking HERE.

It’s been a year since the Archdiocese first closed the grand historic church, and almost two years since we first called on the Landmarks Preservation Commission to act to save the endangered edifice.
