This program is part of Village Preservation’s Semiquincentennial series of programs celebrating our Revolutionary Village. Revolutionary Village not only celebrates the founding of our country, but the exceptional role our neighborhoods played in its development and the realization of its ideals over the last 250 years and beyond.
The number of pre- and early post- Revolutionary War structures surviving in Manhattan is surprising to most people, even experts on our city’s history. From a grand country mansion to a farmhouse, taverns, townhouses, churches, and the earliest park in New York City, discover remnants of early New York from one tip of Manhattan to the other.

Anthony Bellov is an award-winning videographer, musician, author, and architectural historian. Recently deemed a “Domestic Archaeologist,” his presentations on local architecture are always highly anticipated. Past in-depth talks include explorations of the Salmagundi Clubhouse, Lower Fifth Avenue, the Old Bloomingdale Road and neighborhood, and many other entertaining topics. Many past presentations are viewable on YouTube.
Anthony holds a bachelor’s in Architecture from Pratt Institute and a master’s in Museum Leadership from Bank Street College of Education. He volunteers as chair of Salmagundi’s Program Committee and also sits on the board of the New York Chapter of the American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE).
