Join us for a walking tour as we visit the places and spaces where female activists, artists, and culture creators create iconic moments and movements in nightlife venues in the Greenwich and East Village neighborhoods of New York City.

This 90-minute walking tour will explore the remarkable contributions of women who took up space in taverns, bars, lounges, speakeasies, and clubs to advance political ideas; highlight emerging subcultures and art forms; gather people of classes/races/ethnicities; and shift the zeitgeist.

The Unseen Revelers shows you where iconic dames created pivotal moments in nightlife history; think Billie Holiday singing Strange Fruit; Norma Miller doing the Lindy; Sylvia Robinson introducing Hip Hop to new audiences at Webster Hall; Ruza Blue producing the first hip-hop party outside of the Bronx and Martha Cooper documenting it; or Patti Astor gathering New Wave artists and graffiti writers in one space.
