PAST HEARING/MEETING DATES and DECISIONS

LPC Public Hearing – March 17th, 2026
NO ACTION: The hearing was closed following extensive public testimony, with all but one member of the public testifying in opposition to the proposal. The applicants will return to a future public meeting, where they will respond to feedback and the Commissioners’ discussion and decision will take place.

Community Board 2 Meeting – February 11th, 2026
CB Resolution Recommends:
A. Denial of the application that, with its excavation, construction, appearance, and bulk, would cause irreparable aesthetic and structural harm to the Merchant’s House Museum, an individual exterior and interior landmark with an important historic connection to the Underground Railroad; and
B. That the Commission recommend to the appropriate municipal agency that the lot be
purchased by the City and used for a purpose that preserves and enhances the City-owned
Merchant’s House to provide administrative space that will enable the entire house to be open to
the public and to further its mission to serve the public through its education programs and
exhibitions.

Please note: At this time, all LPC public hearings and meetings are hybrid. Members of the public may participate in-person at the LPC Hearing Room, 253 Broadway, Second Floor, or virtually via Zoom and YouTube. For a video tutorial on how to participate virtually, click HERE.

View the video after a LPC hearing concludes: Videos of past LPC Hearings and Meetings can be found on their YouTube page. The LPC posts these videos about a week after the presentation. Videos include the applicant’s presentation, public testimony (for hearings only), and deliberation by the LPC commissioners.
