Cushman row houses, West 20th Street.
In 1839-40, Don Alonzo Cushman (more here), b. 1792, d. 1875, built the red-brick Greek Revival rowhouses at 406-418 West 20th Street. Don contributed a great deal to the development of the neighborhood of Chelsea and launched his own real estate business, D.A. Cushman Realty Corp, in the 1850s.

In the early 1950s, 155 Willow Street was the home of playwright Arthur Miller and his wife. Miller wrote “The Crucible” and an early version of “A View From the Bridge” here. He moved out when he left his wife for Marilyn Monroe. Read more here.
