Most Holy Redeemer Church Fight in the New York Times

This past weekend our fight to save Most Holy Redeemer Church at 173 East 3rd Street and our recent successful rally to preserve it got some attention in the New York Times — READ HERE. The piece calls attention to our ongoing effort along with parishioners and local neighborhood organizations to save the 175-year-old community cornerstone, once known as “the German cathedral of the Lower East Side,” which is currently threatened with closure and likely demolition.
Village Preservation has been leading the effort to seek landmark designation of the grand edifice, long a landmark in the East Village that lacks the protections to ensure its survival.
